3:45 – 4:15 AM: Hotel Pick-Up in Cusco
Your tour begins with an early-morning pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Cusco between 3:45 AM and 4:15 AM. The exact time will be confirmed one day before the tour and may vary according to your hotel’s location and the train schedule assigned to your reservation. A Machu Picchu Team vehicle will take you through the Andes to the Ollantaytambo train station. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

6:10 or 6:40 AM: Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, our driver will help you locate the correct boarding area and confirm the train details shown on your ticket. The train journey to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, takes approximately 1.5 hours. During the trip, you will travel alongside the Urubamba River and enjoy impressive views of mountains, agricultural fields, traditional communities, and the changing landscapes of the Sacred Valley.
Train departure times are generally around 6:10 AM or 6:40 AM, depending on availability and the schedule confirmed for your booking.
Arrival in Aguas Calientes and Meeting with Your Guide
When you arrive at the Aguas Calientes train station, your professional guide will be waiting with a sign displaying Machu Picchu Team or your name. The guide will provide a short briefing with the most important instructions for the visit, including the bus departure point, entrance procedures, prohibited items, the assigned Machu Picchu circuit, and the approximate schedule for the day.
Depending on the confirmed entrance time, you may have approximately 20 to 30 minutes to use the restroom, purchase water or snacks, or prepare for the visit.
Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu
From Aguas Calientes, you will board the official bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The journey takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes along a winding mountain road surrounded by cloud-forest vegetation. Arrival at Machu Picchu is generally scheduled between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, depending on the assigned train, bus queues, and entrance time. Your guide will assist you throughout the boarding and entrance process.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Your Machu Picchu entrance ticket is included according to the circuit confirmed in your reservation. We prioritize the most complete available circuit that offers important panoramic views and access to the principal archaeological sectors. However, the specific route depends on government availability at the time of booking. Your final confirmation will clearly indicate the circuit included in your tour. During the guided visit, your licensed professional guide will explain the history, architecture, engineering, religious importance, and daily life of the Inca civilization. Depending on the assigned circuit, you may visit or observe:
- Agricultural terraces

- Residential sectors
- Important temples
- Stone structures and water channels

The guided tour generally lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the circuit, visitor flow, and regulations in effect on the date of your visit. There will also be opportunities to take photographs from the authorized viewpoints along the route. Visitors must follow the established one-way circuit and the instructions of the guide and archaeological-site staff.
Return Bus to Aguas Calientes
After completing the guided tour, you will exit the archaeological site and take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. The descent takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes, although waiting times may vary depending on the number of visitors. Once in town, you will have free time before your return train. You may enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, explore the artisan market, purchase souvenirs, or walk through the main streets of Machu Picchu Pueblo. Lunch is not included unless specifically stated in your booking confirmation.
2:30 or 3:20 PM: Return Train to Ollantaytambo
Your return train will depart from Aguas Calientes at approximately 2:30 PM or 3:20 PM, depending on availability and the schedule assigned to your reservation. You must arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure and present your original passport together with the train ticket.
The journey back to Ollantaytambo takes approximately 1.5 hours, following the same scenic route through the mountains and Sacred Valley.
Transfer from Ollantaytambo to Cusco
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, a Machu Picchu Team driver will be waiting with a sign displaying your name. You will then continue by tourist transportation to Cusco. The return journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Arrival in Cusco is expected between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Drop-off will be provided at your hotel or at the location confirmed in your reservation.

Train Ticket to Aguas Calientes

Drop-off in the Sacred Valley may also be arranged upon prior request. Please inform us before the tour so we can confirm the location and coordinate the return service correctly.
Free Luggage Storage at Our Cusco Office
Travelers booking the Machu Picchu Full Day Tour by Train from Cusco may store their main luggage free of charge at the Machu Picchu Team office before departure. This service is especially useful because train companies generally allow only a small carry-on bag or backpack, while large suitcases may not be accepted on board.
The luggage storage service is available during office hours, from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Please make sure your bags are properly closed and clearly identified with your name. Valuable items, passports, cash, jewelry, electronic devices, and important documents should remain with you at all times, as these items should not be placed inside stored luggage.

Breakfast
Breakfast is not included in the tour price. Because the tour begins very early in the morning, we recommend requesting a box breakfast from your hotel the night before or carrying a light meal for the journey. Suitable options include fruit, a sandwich, energy bars, cookies, or other easy-to-carry snacks. Coffee, hot drinks, and simple breakfast items may also be available for purchase at or near the Ollantaytambo train station, depending on the opening hours of local businesses.
Lunch
Lunch is not included. After completing your guided visit to Machu Picchu and returning by bus to Aguas Calientes, you will have free time to choose a restaurant and enjoy lunch before boarding your return train. Aguas Calientes offers a wide selection of local and international restaurants, including Peruvian, vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary options. Meal prices vary according to the restaurant and menu selected. We recommend confirming your train departure time with the guide before ordering lunch so that you arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure.
Additional Food and Beverages
Snacks, bottled water, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and other personal food purchases are not included unless specifically stated in your booking confirmation. We recommend carrying a reusable water bottle and a small amount of cash in Peruvian soles for personal expenses.

Booking the Machu Picchu Full Day Tour by Train from Cusco is simple and secure. Because Machu Picchu entrance tickets and train seats are limited, we recommend booking as early as possible, especially during the high season.
Step 1: Check Availability

Step 2: Select the Number and Type of Travelers
Enter the total number of participants and select the correct traveler category for each person:

Travelers booking the student rate must meet the official eligibility requirements and provide a clear photograph of both sides of their valid university student card. You may then choose to pay either:
- A USD 180 non-refundable deposit per person
- The full tour price
The deposit is used to purchase the non-refundable Machu Picchu entrance ticket and train tickets required for your reservation.
Step 3: Enter the Traveler Information
Complete the booking form with accurate information for every participant, including: Full name exactly as shown on the passport, Passport number, Nationality, Date of birth, WhatsApp number with country code, Email address, Hotel or accommodation in Cusco, Special requests or relevant medical information. Passenger information must be correct because Machu Picchu and train tickets are issued using these details.
Step 4: Select Optional Upgrades

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Deposit and Booking Confirmation
A non-refundable deposit of USD 180 per person is required to begin the reservation process. This deposit is used to purchase the Machu Picchu entrance ticket and train tickets. These services are issued for a specific traveler and travel date and are generally non-transferable, non-changeable, and non-refundable. Your reservation is considered fully confirmed only after:
- The required payment has been received.
- Machu Picchu and train availability has been verified.
- Our reservations team has issued the final written confirmation.
Cancellations and Refunds
The USD 180 deposit per person is non-refundable under all circumstances because it is used to purchase non-refundable entrance and train tickets. If you cancel after paying the full tour price, the remaining amount may be refunded after deducting: The USD 180 deposit per person, Services already purchased or confirmed, Card-processing fees, Bank charges, Currency-conversion costs, Any other non-recoverable expenses
Any Machu Picchu or train tickets already issued remain valid only for the original passenger and confirmed date, according to the regulations of the corresponding authorities and service providers.
Date Changes
Date-change requests are subject to Machu Picchu entrance, train, guide, and transportation availability. Because previously issued tickets generally cannot be modified or refunded, changing the tour date requires the purchase of new Machu Picchu and train tickets. Therefore, a new USD 180 deposit per person will be required to cover these services. Any difference in the tour price must also be paid by the traveler.
Name and Passport Information
Full names must match the traveler’s passport exactly. Participants must verify all information before submitting the booking form. If a traveler renews or replaces a passport after booking, they must contact us immediately. A passport-number update may be possible, but it is subject to the regulations of the train company and Machu Picchu authorities. Name changes or transferring the reservation to another person are generally not permitted.
Remaining Balance
Travelers who pay only the deposit must complete the remaining balance at least 24 hours before the tour begins. The balance may be paid: Through our online payment platform, In person at our Cusco office, In cash in US dollars or Peruvian soles, By debit or credit card, subject to the applicable processing fee
Failure to pay the balance within the required period may result in the suspension or cancellation of services that have not yet been issued.
Optional Upgrades
Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, Vistadome trains, and other optional services are subject to availability. Once an optional ticket or upgrade has been purchased, its cost is non-refundable and cannot normally be transferred to another traveler or date.
Train and Entrance Schedules
Train departure times, Machu Picchu entrance times, and assigned circuits depend on availability when the reservation is processed. Machu Picchu Team may adjust transportation or train schedules when necessary to coordinate the confirmed entrance time. Any changes will be communicated before the tour.
